Fay Anagnostopoulou and Stella Sevastopoulos
FokiaNou Art Space presents the two-person exhibition Erosion & Renewal with works by Fay Anagnostopoulou and Stella Sevastopoulos - an exhibition with contrasts and connections. Anagnostopoulou explores Athenian urbanism, while Sevastopoulos is inspired by nature and culture, yet both artists focus on the way that time, the elements, or even the human hand, intervene on surfaces and environments, evolving them into something new.
Anagnostopoulou's urban walls speak of inner-city life's intriguing erosions and contrast with Sevastopoulos' ancient walls, with traces of plant motifs, and with her focus on the natural environment's regenerative nature. Ηowever, texture and colour play an important role in both these artists' works. Furthermore, they both explore a similar, palimpsestic approach, one which involves adding layers of acrylic paint to the canvas, as well as other mediums and techniques. Α kind of editing process via layering.
Fay Anagnostopoulou studied Architecture and Advertising at the University of Minnesota, and attended Abstract Art seminars at the Art League of Houston, Texas. She has worked at the Architectural Office of Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle in Minneapolis, as well as in the field of Architectural Design and press promotion at Progressive Architecture in the same city. She started painting in 2004, leaving the field of architecture and advertising. In 2008, she moved permanently back to Athens, Greece. Today she continues her search through the field of Abstract Painting.

Stella Sevastopoulos (Στέλλα Σεβαστοπούλου) was born and raised in London. She studied Art, English literature and History of Art at Harrow College of Art, Lancaster University and Reading University. She moved to Athens in 1994, has worked as a freelance journalist for various publications and was Arts Editor at the Athens News newspaper. She writes/runs the site Art Scene Athens. She has been creating art throughout her life, but started exhibiting her work in 2018, and has developed her artistic process in both abstract and representational directions. She has participated in over 30 group exhibitions and has had 2 solo exhibitions.

Ο χώρος τέχνης FokiaNou Art Space παρουσιάζει την διατομική έκθεση Erosion & Renewal των εικαστικών Φαίη Αναγνωστοπούλου και Στέλλα Σεβαστοπούλου, μία έκθεση με αντιθέσεις και συνδέσεις. H Αναγνωστοπούλου εξερευνά την αθηναϊκή πολεοδομία, ενώ η Σεβαστοπούλου εμπνέεται από τη φύση και τον πολιτισμό, ωστόσο και οι δύο εστιάζουν στον τρόπο με τον οποίο ο χρόνος, τα στοιχεία της φύσης, ακόμα και το ανθρώπινο χέρι, επεμβαίνουν σε επιφάνειες και περιβάλλοντα, εξελίσσοντάς τα σε κάτι καινούργιο.
Τα αστικά τείχη της Αναγνωστοπούλου μιλούν για τις ενδιαφέρουσες διαβρώσεις της ζωής στον πυρήνα της πόλης και έρχονται σε αντίθεση με τα αρχαία τείχη της Σεβαστοπούλου, με ίχνη φυτικών μοτίβων, ή και με την εστίαση της στον αναγεννητικό χαρακτήρα του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος. Παρόλα αυτά, η υφή και το χρώμα παίζουν σημαντικό ρόλο στα έργα των δύο αυτών καλλιτεχνών. Επίσης εξερευνούν μια παρόμοια, παλίμψηστη προσέγγιση, που περιλαμβάνει την προσθήκη στρωμάτων ακρυλικού χρώματος στον καμβά, καθώς και άλλα μέσα και τεχνικές. Μία διαδικασία επεξεργασίας μέσω της στρωματοποίησης.
Η Φαίη Αναγνωστοπούλου σπούδασε Αρχιτεκτονική και Διαφήμιση στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Μινεσότα και παρακολούθησε σεμινάρια Abstract Art στο Art League του Χιούστον του Τέξας. Έχει εργαστεί στο Αρχιτεκτονικό Γραφείο των Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle στη Μινεάπολη, καθώς και στον τομέα του Αρχιτεκτονικού Σχεδιασμού και της προώθησης Τύπου στην Progressive Architecture στην ίδια πόλη. Ξεκίνησε να ζωγραφίζει το 2004, αφήνοντας τον χώρο της αρχιτεκτονικής και της διαφήμισης. Το 2008 επέστρεψε μόνιμα στην Αθήνα. Σήμερα συνεχίζει την αναζήτησή της στον χώρο της Αφηρημένης Ζωγραφικής.

Η Στέλλα Σεβαστοπούλου (Stella Sevastopoulos) γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στο Λονδίνο. Σπούδασε Τέχνη, Αγγλική Λογοτεχνία και Ιστορία της Τέχνης στο Harrow College of Art, στο Lancaster University και στο Reading University. Μετακόμισε στην Αθήνα το 1994, έχει εργαστεί ως ανεξάρτητη δημοσιογράφος σε διάφορα έντυπα και υπήρξε πολιτιστική συντάκτρια στην εφημερίδα Athens News. Γράφει/διαχειρίζεται το site Art Scene Athens. Δημιουργεί τέχνη σε όλη της τη ζωή, αλλά ξεκίνησε να εκθέτει τη δουλειά της το 2018 και έχει αναπτύξει την καλλιτεχνική της πρακτική, τόσο σε αφηρημένες όσο και σε αναπαραστατικές κατευθύνσεις. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε πάνω από 30 ομαδικές εκθέσεις και έχει πραγματοποιήσει 2 ατομικές.
